What religions/organizations aren't a cult?
by Jules Saturn inso we've already established that most religions can be classified as high control groups, we can name the wbts, church of scientology, lds, etc.
the list goes on and on.
but are there any religions or organizations that aren't classified as a high control group or aren't as bad as the ones i've just mentioned?

But are there any religions or organizations that aren't classified as a high control group or aren't as bad as the ones I've just mentioned? Are ALL organized religions classified as cults? Would a religion have to lack organization to avoid being classified as a cult?

What are your convictions now that you are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses? Are you a born again Christian? Have you joined another denomination of Christianity? Are you now atheist or agnostic? I ask these questions because of a conversation I had once with my father who said "If none of this is true, then there is no truth." So I thought that his reasoning was pretty interesting, it kind of gave me a little insight as to how a Witness would react to learning TTATT. I've read a lot of experiences of former JWs who lose all faith in God and become atheist or agnostic, and I've also read other experiences of people who have become born again Christians or are practicing another faith. Personally, now that I've learned about the Society, things I never knew when I wasn't "awake", I am unsure of where I stand with my own convictions. And I'm sure this feeling must be normal with anyone who finds out about TTATT. But what made you become an atheist or agnostic or a born again Christian, or even join another denomination or religion? Did you find any questions you had about life finally answered with your new beliefs? Are you on a personal level, happier with your new convictions? Please feel free to share. Thank you.

They've only admitted for causing the hype over 1975 in the 1980 Yearbook, but that's the only thing

Phone call with a disfellowshipped relative
by Jules Saturn inso i call my grandfather who has been inactive for several decades and he's at vacation in puerto rico.
the conversation is normal, we talk about how he's doing down there and how i am doing.
then he tells me that my cousin who i haven't seen in 5 years, is with him and asks if i would like to speak to him; i said yes.

Disfellowshipping should honestly be illegal

So I call my grandfather who has been inactive for several decades and he's at vacation in Puerto Rico. The conversation is normal, we talk about how he's doing down there and how I am doing. Then he tells me that my cousin who I haven't seen in 5 years, is with him and asks if I would like to speak to him; I said yes. So we told each other that we missed each other and that he told me that he's happy that I don't have a stick up my butt anymore and remembers how I would get upset over every little worldly thing he would do and thought that I was going to grow up to be a real Boy Scout. I made it clear to him that to me he was family even though the rest of our family was shunning him. He told me he wish he could've made it to family events but couldn't attend due to him being disfellowshipped. I told him that if we happened to cross paths one day, that I would greet him and not ignore him. He told me that it meant a lot to hear that from me.
It was really good to hear from him even though honestly a year ago I wouldn't have thought about talking to him. And it bothers me that a year ago I probably would've ignored him like the rest of my family does. It was a clear reminder of how much the practice of disfellowshipping hurts. I can't comprehend how that is humanely possible. But as I said it was really good hearing from him.

Marry only in the Lord
by Jules Saturn inthe second half of 1 corinthians 7:39 reads "...she is free to be married to whomever she wants, only in the lord.".
so we all know that scripture for being doctrine for witnesses when they select a marriage mate and how they are strictly encouraged to marry amongst themselves and look down upon or marked if they marry an outsider.
i have a friend who met a worldly man and when it came to light, her father gave her the option to end the relationship or to marry him, and she chose the latter.

I have a friend who met a worldly man and when it came to light, her father gave her the option to end the relationship or to marry him, and she chose the latter. The wedding seemed so rush (I didn't attend, I am only assuming through pictures I've seen) not all of her friends her relatives were in attendance, the attendance was actually very small. Her father who was a ministerial servant at the time was in attendance and because he was there, the body of elders viewed that as "supporting" her, so his privileges were removed. She was looked down upon by her family for having married an outsider and considered to not be exemplary in her congregation.
I thought all of this was very unfair, do any of you know of any similar experiences? What is the main interpretation of 1 Corinthians 7:39? I think it's very sad for anyone to be treated this way, ostracized by their family and friends for not following the "norm" or what is considered normal to them.
